Saturday was the maiden voyage of the boat. The day started at 8 am when we picked up Ben's dad and headed to get the boat from Falcon. About 9 am we were on our way to the Pueblo Reservoir with a detour to PW Wal-Mart first. We got to the res about 11 and that is when the fun began.
Boat inspection - of course with this being a new boat and no registration numbers it had to be an issue. We were denied access to the water until we could prove the application for registration had been completed. We went to the parks office. Showed the paper work but it was not the correct paperwork. Tempers began to flair. I decided to walk out of the office but grabbed the 2009 boating regulations first.
When Ben and his dad got back to the truck and made a few phone calls and determined that they did not have the proof that parks needed, they decided to head back and apply for application for registration again. I mentioned to them that as long as you have a bill of sale you are allowed on the water for the first 30 days and showed them it in the regulations. We decided it was worth a shot. It worked. We were allowed on the water.
It was close to noon by the time we got on the water. We pretty much just cruised around the res and fished for most of the day. Didn't catch anything but had a great time.
When we left the lake and went for inspection again there was a TON of water coming out. We weren't sure what happened so that meant another trip to another lake was going to have to happen soon.
Sunday we went to 11 Mile and this time things went so much smoother and the boat took on less water. We think it was operator error but its all good.
We are planning on taking the boat to either Taylor or Blue Mesa in the next few weeks - the boys may join us. This should be fun.
